Choose you this day whom ye will serve; . . . as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15.

To be a Christian means to be brought face to face with the greatest decisions in life. One cannot be a Christian without the ability to make the right decision now and always. Our thinking must lead to moral and spiritual conclusions. There is a lot of discussion about religion and moral problems that never gets beyond words and is never tied together into a final knot.

The mind may be likened to a court of law. The evidence has been presented, the witnesses heard, the conclusions reached. It is time for a verdict. Men must make up their minds. The Bible speaks of those who are "ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth" (2 Tim. 3:7).

Our study of God's Word must not be allowed to go on day after day, month after month, with an undecided mind and heart. In the Holy Scriptures the path of truth and the way of salvation is unmistakably clear. It is the single eye that ensures the body to be full of light. It is the committed soul that makes sure of the truth.

When we come to the Bible as guests to partake of the bread of life, enlightenment will attend our steps. Reason and conscience will be exercised under the Spirit of God. Personal responsibility to the truth will become as clear as the noonday. It is well that our minds should be so awakened as to know the truth. It is good that the eyes of the mind can distinguish between truth and error. But now comes the time to stand. Exercise the most careful judgment on what the Word of God reveals. The Holy Spirit has promised to lead us into all truth. Now is the time to determine the direction of our lives. A higher power is before us to make all things work together for good. It is not enough to know what is truth. We must decide. Now there must be no drifting, no moving timidly. Christian living is not a life of chance or fate. It involves the right exercise of the will committed wholly to Christ, the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
